The Open Collective: About Us

Who we are:

We are a collective of collectives, i.e. a group of people representing or building various community currency projects as well as the emerging social structures that surround them.

What we do:

We meet, we work, we discuss, we grow, we have fun.

Our Culture:

The collective agreement we gather by is emergent but here are some things that seem to be true:
  • We organize using the model of collective intelligence and the open source movement.
  • Different projects are a different stages of development, and although the Collective gathers at over the span of one time, not everybody participates in all activities. I.e. some sessions are work sessions that are not open to newcomers.
  • No one does it for us, we are responsible, i.e. if you have an idea, don't ask someone else to do it, do it yourself.
  • Be careful what you ask for: You will be sent to get it!
  • Personal transformation is part of what's going on here. It's not just about working on projects, it's also about working on ourselves.

How we work together:

In between our gatherings, we continue to work together using on-line colaboration tools like the CC Syndicator which is a tiki-wiki. We also use Skype, Gizmo and more. To really jump in and participate we highly recommend creating an account on CCIT (click on register in the top left corner under the login button) and learning how to edit wiki pages.
